The Lost Blue Book of Monto

Inspired by Dr. Caroline West’s “Wrong Women: Selling Sex in Monto, Dublin’s Forgotten Red Light District”, I made this mini-zine. Monto was once the largest red-light district in Europe and existed for over a century, yet thanks to the efforts of the Irish Free State and the Catholic Church it has been largely scrubbed from the historical record. This zine takes the form of a “blue book”, a type of guide book for visitors to the red light districts of this time, though of course any such artefact from Monto has been lost to time.
